The riddle was written approximately 1000 years ago.<\/p>\n<p><i><br \/>Swings by his thigh \/ a thing most magical!<br \/>Below the belt \/ beneath the folds<br \/>Of his clothes it hangs \/ a hole in its front end,<br \/>stiff-set and stout \/ it swivels about.<\/p>\n<p>Levelling the head \/ of this hanging tool,<br \/>its wielder hoists his hem \/ above his knee;<br \/>it is his will to fill \/ a well-known hole<br \/>that it fits fully \/ when at full length<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s oft filled it before. \/ Now he fills it again.<br \/><\/i><\/p>\n<p>Admittedly, my brain flopped straight into the gutter. Those Anglo-Saxons were cheeky little monkeys eh?<\/p>\n<p>The answer&#8217;s in the comments btw.
