I spend a lot of time online and have done for years and over that time many happy, sad, odd, nasty, fantastic things have happened to me online and off. This blog is about all of that and more.
Hey thanks for checking out my little blog. A bit about me: I'm a web designer for a Catholic Hospital
in Nebraska. I love my job and it's allowed me to learn so much about design and code etc etc. all at their expense, not mine, hehehe.
I have a daughter, she's nearly 12 and the pride of my life. You can check out her website at Sweetiepete.com.
She loves it when people sign her guestbook :) That's enough for this space. If you want to know more, read the blogs! :)
I've been busy lately. If you couldn't tell by my lack of blogs this past week. So much going on online and off that I'm still trying to get caught up on it all. I've been asked to make some recommendations at work on whether we stay with our current company who hosts us (and severely limits us on what our capabilities are) or go solo, so to speak and I can't decide. My only issue is with Database creation and maintenance that we would need for certain sections of the site. I'm not too hot on all of that (yet) and that's kind of a biggie. I'm so much more of a graphic design person than techie coder. Ah well may as well learn it all. I'm going to talk with some other sites within our company that don't use the same hosts we do and see what they've done.
Then I've got my online newspaper I'm working on for TCZ. Our relaunch happens on Wednesday and finally stories are starting to come in. What I've done this time (I've run the Digest before, but had to stop when TCZ went down for over a year) is give more control to my editors. I let them pick and choose their own staff and they can hire and fire when necessary, so long as the articles keep coming in. It's working out pretty well :)
And finally the launch of Silver Rocket version 2 happened yesterday and it's going down a treat. I've been helping out with testing the features on it for a few weeks now so it's really nice to see everyone's reaction to all of my friend's hard work. Amazing what he was able to accomplish in a few weeks. For some it takes months. We've also launched a Fan Interaction section of the BSH which has been a lot of fun to work on. I got to do the intro for it aswell as maintain one of the pages within. It's so much fun being a part of the official site like this, not to mention the great friends I've made through this fabulous band.
On a sour note, I somehow got banned from some placebo fan site, seemingly for the sole reason that I know the owner of the official site. I've heard it's because the owner of this fansite believes I was there to 'spy' or whatever. To which I just roll my eyes. Whatever you know? I went there as a fan of the band and in the interest of seeing what sort of pix and things they had, and they had some really nice live shots. A review here and there. A forum. Admittedly I checked out her forum quite a bit because I wanted to see if I or the BSH were being slagged off. And it didn't happen which was nice to see for a change. Of course now I wouldn't know. That's about all they had though so I don't mind being banned. Was a bit dull.
So anyway, I'm off to play with some new software, see if I can completely recreate one of our websites. Have a lovely night :)
