Ban Java!
Can i just say how much JAVA sucks? I hate it, I really do. DHTML sucks too while I'm at it. All I want is a spiffy horizontal menu with dropdown submenus. That's all. Easy right? Wrong. First of all, those 'easy to install' directions are laughable, not to mention about 4 pages long filled with enough crazy code to make you go cross-eyed. Secondly, if you manage to get past the instructions and actually get it installed, you end up with a thousand bloody javascript errors and your whole page is fecked.

I give up.

Sometimes I wish I was partnered with someone who understands all that shit, leaving me free to design to my heart's content, and let someone else worry about making my designs actually work. Of course then I'd have to share any profits, but hey, c'est la vie. Whatever it takes to take the code aspect as far away from me as possible.

I do actually like some of it. PHP is pretty easy. I just have no head for the stuff though. I don't think my brain processes mathmatical equations or complicated code as easily as others seem to. I know people who can glance at code and can spot the error as if it were written in bold. Not me. I always struggled with math and even now I avoid it like the plague. Word problems especially. I can't explain what happens when I'm confronted with a maths problem. It's almost like my brain says, 'Umm, nope, not gonna do it.' and refuses to process the information. The answer is obvious to me once I'm told it, but I can't get from problem to solution without a headache.

Now, language on the other hand... That's always been effortless to me. I can look at a paragraph and spot misspells and typos as if *they* were in bold. I can write, I read voraciously, I comprehend themes and concepts within a story... I pick up foreign languages easily. I find that interesting. Is it because arts and literature were such a strong influence on me when I was growing up? Is it genetic? My mother wasn't mathmatically inclined either, but my grandfather is. My daughter seems to do well in math as well. So is it your environment or your genes that decides your brain's strong points?
