A new project I've been thinking about for a while now: Fiction Evolution. Or just Evolve for short. I can't decide between the two. I love writing, and I don't think I'm bad at it either. It's always been a goal of mine to someday write a full novel. I don't care if it gets published, I just want the sense of accomplishment of having finished it. Having said that, I think starting out saying "I'm going to write a book" is a bit lofty for me, knowing my penchant for procrastination.
In a couple weeks, this blog will have reached its one year anniversary and trust me, for me that is a hell of an accomplishment. Never have I written a journal for any length of time, much less a whole year's worth of stuff. I start them with the best intentions and promptly forget about them. So I figured that since I did well (by my standards) with this, maybe blogging is what gives me the motivation I need to keep it up and with that in mind, I set up another 'blog' that I will use to help me work out the kinks of a story - character development, plot outlines etc. Readers will have the opportunity to follow the evolution of a story from start to finish, see the mistakes, the triumphs (cross fingers there are any!) until finally, a story emerges. Commenting on various entries and the opportunity to discuss different aspects of it in my forums will be a part of it as well, so anyone following along can even help shape the story.
I don't know what will come of it, but I hope it works. Wish me luck!

I'm not sure...
I want to watch a war on tv. Sounds like Fox's latest effort. "Next on FOX! Gulf War II, The Search for Saddam!" And americans will be able to call a special toll-free number and vote on which Iraqi soldier dies next. From what I've read, journalists from all over the world will be going in with the soldiers and utilising modern technology to broadcast from the front lines as things happen. Is that a good thing or not? I just don't know. It just seems like it will add to the desensitization of graphic violence. People have been conditioned to view violence on tv or in films as 'not real', and I don't think showing the war on television will do much to change that aspect. We aren't going to connect with it because it's on tv. Or will we? Will the knowledge that these are real events happening in almost real-time shock us into finally realising what an awful business war is. It's not Hollywood out there, it's someone's son or daughter.
Ugh, enough of that.

I purposely did not blog over the weekend because no matter how much I love this software, the problem comes when I blog just to blog and I end up not having anything interesting to say. Guess what though, I've got nothing to say this time either I wasn't on the comp much over the weekend apart from checking the forums.
Let's see, right now I've got... five forums I frequent on a regular basis. Two are my own, one Lord of the Rings, Eric Emotion's, and my city newspaper's forum - that one for sheer entertainment value where I can be entertained by all of the so-republican-it-hurts people on there. Sounds like a lot of forums eh? It's not really. None of them are very busy, which suits me fine. I rather like going away from it for hours and coming back to find a few new posts to read and respond to. I'd love it if my movie site would pick up more traffic, but I've got no budget to publicise it beyond the usual free ways. Oh well, having fun with it was the main point
My sister's leaving for the UK on the 31st. *sigh* Gonna miss her - well I miss her now, but with her in Cali I had the option of hopping in the car and driving out to see her. Now if I want to see her it involves passports and visas and stuff. Found out she's taking her computer with her. I wonder if it's compatible over there. Seems like I remember hearing something about funny voltage differences. I don't know. She probably can. Anyway, if it works all right over there I'll still be able to IM her.
Speaking of Instant Messaging, I think that's the coolest thing ever. I find I'm staying in touch with friends and family members much better than I ever did with just email. And with webcams and voice capabilities, who the hell needs the phone company?

I spend quite a bit of time online for my job and for entertainment and this blog is just some of my observations about life on the Internet. Enjoy and leave comments! :)
